Not everyone who has Raspberry Pi has a desktop PC that has a monitor to use. However, many people have laptops that have a monitor. The problem is that laptops have HDMI port that only outputs and there is no direct way to connect Raspberry Pi to it. Some people use Remote connections so that they can see the Raspberry Pi screen on their laptop but this has some issues too as the connections sometimes drop or it’s simply slow. Well, in this blog post, we came up with a cheap and simple solution to connect your Raspberry Pi to your Laptop Monitor directly.
Required Parts

- Video Capture Card-1
- Micro HDMI-HDMI Cable – 1
Video Capture Adapter
Many of you may know that A video Capture adapter or card is a hardware device that lets you connect to your computer which converts the video signal from your camera’s output or any other device into a digital format so that your computer can identify. Well, that’s exactly what we are doing here with our Raspberry Pi and Laptop monitor. By connecting the video capture adapter between the Raspberry Pi and computer we can directly see the Raspberry Pi screen on the laptop Monitor.
But wait, there is still one more step that lets us see the Raspberry Pi screen on the laptop monitor and that is you need some sort of software to see the digital signal and in my case I used OBS.
